2012-2016 Subaru WRX STi Chassis Brace Installation.
We don't get much feedback from customers who order our products, from our authorized dealers or someone who purchased it from a 3rd party vendor, Not much is said or documented.
As far as we know, our installation is the first of its kind in the USA for our 2014 (G4) Subaru STi model. Horsepower Industries in Fairfield California is our shop partner, next door to our office. We are lucky enough to get our products tested and installed.
Chandler Greer of Arch Rivals Clothing, came into Horsepower Industries for a routine oil change and noticed Horsepower Industrie's Ultra Racing display wall of chassis braces and gave an interest. First off, Chandler had no idea that he would be the test subject for this chassis line-up and probably the first G4 Subaru STi in the country. A set of front and rear strut braces and a 6 point rear frame to crossmember braces were ordered and in two weeks ... we had his products back from production and in our hands.
The installation took no more than 2 hour with two technicians involved and a lift, which helps so much.
Front and Rear strut braces, rear 6 point rear crossmember to chassis frame.
Check all areas of mounting points before removing any chassis or suspension bolts.
Rear braces is suggested that you have a second person to assist with the installation.
Torque specs for the cross member and lower arms are 85 lbs.
Testing the rear crossmember brace, it was not a great fit.
The installation techs places the brace under the exhaust pipe, but it was to snug. The techs felt that it would cause vibration noise, they did install it facing up. At this time that part will not be offered until we can research our jigs.
Installing the front strut brace was way too easy for our techs. The brace clears all OEM trim and engine components.
Moving on to the rear, also an easy installation with the exception that some trunk trim could be trimmed away.
Installation on the rear brace took at most 15 minutes.
Trunk trim flaps will fold up, in our preference we suggested that we remove them.
